The Smart Hospital Project team hosted a mini symposium at the Santa Casa International Conference in Neonatology in São Paulo, Brazil, to present progress across several research initiatives.
The presentations highlighted the development of wireless sensors for vital signs monitoring in the NICU, the design of a family-friendly Smart Dashboard aimed at reducing stress for parents and caregivers, and the clinical benefits of wireless technologies for applications such as NIRS and phototherapy in newborns.
Presenters included Dr. Guilherme Sant’Anna, Daniel Radeschi, Elisa Medeiros, Alyssa Maximov, Amanda Gross, and our collaborator Dr. Sammy Perdomo from Korea University.
In addition to the symposium, the team engaged with more than 400 attendees at the exhibition booth, showcasing the project’s technologies and fostering meaningful discussions around innovation in neonatal care. The conference also marked the world premiere of “Bubble CPAP & the Columbia Approach: A Documentary,” which was met with an overwhelmingly positive and encouraging response. The thoughtful feedback received was both humbling and deeply appreciated, reinforcing the impact of this work within the global neonatal community.
